What is (VCA) certification Basic Elements of Safety SCC? SCC stands for VGM Check list (Building) Contractors (VGM = Health & Safety & Environment) The SCC check list is an extensive questionnaire which is used by and meant for (building) contractors that work for awarding authorities. SCC Certification in fact is more than going through a check list. It is a versatile and complete program through which your company can be examined in an impartial and structural way and meanwhile being certificated on health & safety and environmental factors.
SCC Petrochemistry
Since the end of 2008 SCC Petrochemistry exists next to SCC* and SCC**. This last version consists of 41 compulsory questions and 6 additional questions, of which the minimal score has to be 3. The target group for obtaining a SCC Petrochemistry certificate will come from companies with a high risk section and with specific activities in petrochemistry.
For which activities is SCC certification meant?
The SCC certificate is meant for companies that do activities with an increased risk (as seen from the awarding authorities). Often are these activities done in factories, installations, on working areas and production plants. Examples of these are:
- mechanical engineering activities, e.g. maintenance, construction
- electrical engineering and process control, e.g. maintenance process control systems, maintenance electrical systems, contruction
- other technical services, such as insulation (removal/installation), scaffolding, industrial scantling, industrial cleaning, blazing/conservation/painting, vertical transportation, horizontal transportation, working with fork-lifting equipment, fire- and man holes safety guards, inspection activities (röntgen etc.)

How to achieve the SCC certification?
How to achieve the SCC certification? To achieve the SCC standards in an easy and practical way, in short the company has to obtain the following four elements:
- Your company has the actual RI&E (Risk Inventory Taking and Evaluation). This may not be older than three years. Apart from that is having a RI&E also a legal obligation from the Health and Safety Law.
- You have made an inventory of your input/material and have these inspected yearly/periodically.
- Your operational workers have a valid SCC (basis) safety diplom and the executives have a valid SCC for Operational Supervisors.
- You have at your disposal an SCC manual in which is described how to act in case of accidents, toolboxmeetings, workplace inspections, jobrisk analysis, LMRA etc.
